Future Essay

Adapted from 2018

Two years ago my dream and goal was to run a business with my best friend. We were both interested in engineering: I enjoyed designing and building, he enjoyed programming. At the time, I fully expected to eventually produce one of the most successful technology corporations in the world. Since then, my ambitions have certainly changed, but not nearly as dramatically as one might expect. While I no longer restrict my goals to myself and friends, I maintain a similar aspiration for prosperity.

At school, I have an obsession with consistently producing the highest level of work possible. My competitive spirit drives me to put in unparalleled effort in every class.
In early 2019 I began to apply my ambition outside of school when I recognized a need for a car wash in my community. By 2020 I had written a business plan and began scouting locations. Currently, I am set to open the current rendition of this endeavor by April 7th.

While this explanation of the car wash is entirely redundant, considering it is restated in much more depth on the page regarding my internship, it serves to prove that I accomplish my goals even if it takes a full two years to flesh them out. This is why I feel comfortable setting aggressive future goals for myself.

My grand objective begins in college, in which I focus on both physical production of technology and proper business growth strategies. These fields will give me the know-how and connections necessary to eventually start my own company. However, that may not come to fruition until a bit further down the road. First, I must amass funds by way of an introductory engineering job at Boeing (or a similar company). From there, I will put my full earnings into my first successful venture, growing the brand over the course of several years. Over time this new corporation will infiltrate regions and markets until it stands among giants as a true technological powerhouse.

Up to this point, this short essay has focused on career-based success, but I should also touch on general social aspects of my future as well. Firstly, I have no intention of moving away from California. I am not grossly well-traveled, but I have seen various downsides of other regions of America and know that California (and Chicago) is the quintessential living place.

Remaining in California also contributes positively to my approach to retaining relationships with my peers. Rather than maintain traditional, constructive social relationships with these people, I plan on hiring them as shareholders in my immensely successful business. Then, instead of working all day, we will all play golf, make music, and write stories together. It is at this point when I will have peaked and thereby, be able to clearly understand the impending advancements of my life.
